Vida Mezcal Tequila

All Tequila’s are Mezcals, but not all Mezcal is Tequila, kinda like all Cognacs are Brandies. Mezcal just doesn’t discriminate when it comes to agave (Mezcal can be made from all different types, not just “agave azul”). Mezcal is a diverse representation of all of the flavor profiles Mexican agave has to offer. Think of Mezcal as Tequila’s spirited, etherial, smoking hot mom, and Tequila is her celebrity child.

Del Maguey produces Mezcal using the ancient practices of the indigenous people of Oaxaca. They advocate sustainability and social responsibility, striving to preserve the ancient customs of the indigenous Oaxaca people.

Del Maguey Vida Mezcal is an artisinal, single village agave Spirit, from the village of San Luis Del Rio in Oaxaca. This Mezcal is distilled from Espadin, an Angustofolia Haw agave species that is roasted for 3-8 days using Mezquite, Quebrachi, Huamuchil wood. The agave is then milled using a good old horse powered stone mill, fermented, and distilled twice in wood fired clay or copper stills. Del Maguey Mezcal is then bottled by hand at 42% ABV.

Released in 2010, Vida has a nose full of fruit aromatics, a hint of honey, vanilla and roast agave; the palate offers ginger, cinnamon, burnt sandalwood, banana and tangerine, with a long, soft finish. In their own words: Viva VIDA!!!!
